Technology Training

Helms Academy adult students working at computers 

The Beachell Family Learning Center offers free software and credentialing preparatory classes for Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint) and Google Suite (e.g. Docs, Sheets, Gmail, and Google Drive). Community residents are welcome to participate in these ongoing courses to enter the workforce, start or sustain a business, or improve their technology proficiency for their daily lives.

Northstar Computer Basics Training

The Beachell Center is working with the Urban League of Philadelphia and Drexel's Excite Center to boost digital literacy though the Northstar digital literacy program. We are currently offering in-person training sessions Tuesday-Thursday from 5-7pm at the KEYSPOT computer lab. Learn more about this program here.

CompTIA Net+ Program

In November 2021, Drexel's Goodwin College of Professional Studies launched its inaugural CompTIA Net+ credentialing prep program. Through funding from the TD Bank Foundation, the Beachell Family Learning Center recruited 60 applicants from Per Scholas Philadelphia, JEVS Human Services, TechImpact, and Jobworks Inc. who had completed their A+ certification, employed, and ready for the next step in their career development.
